Important Notes for Portland Cat Owners

County Services First

For lost or found cats, contact your local county animal services first. Many nonprofits, including regional humane societies, direct lost pet cases to county services rather than providing direct intake.

TNR Network

Portland has an active TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) network. Lost indoor cats often join feral colonies for food and safety. Contact local TNR groups to check feeding stations.

Cross-County Search

Cats cross county lines faster than paperwork. Include neighboring counties in your search, especially if you live near county borders.

Microchip Registries

Call your microchip registry directly to mark your cat as "lost." Don't rely on online updates alone - speak to a person and get a case ID number.
