Affiliate Disclosure

Some pages on findmycat.info may contain affiliate links. This page explains what that means and why I use them.

1. What affiliate links are

An affiliate link is a special URL that tracks referrals from this Site to another website (for example, Amazon or another retailer). • If you click an affiliate link and then buy something, that external site may pay us a small commission. • The price you pay is usually the same as if you had gone there directly. • I do not see your payment information or account details on those sites.

2. Why I use affiliate links

Running even a small, simple site costs money: hosting, domain registration, software, and security tools. Rather than: • Charging visitors, or • Selling user data or building detailed tracking profiles, I prefer to support the site with: • Limited display advertising, and • Carefully chosen affiliate links to products that are genuinely relevant to lost-pet searches and animal rescue. Examples include humane traps, cameras, carriers, and other practical gear.

3. Relationship to Amazon and others

I expect to participate in one or more affiliate programs, which may include: The Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. If and when I join additional programs, they will be conceptually similar: links that can generate small referral fees. Those programs do not give us access to your full customer profile or payment details.

4. How this affects recommendations

Our priority is usefulness, not commission size. • I will not recommend products solely because they pay a higher commission. • I will avoid recommending products I would not be comfortable using myself or suggesting to a friend dealing with a lost pet. • If there is a conflict between "slightly worse product, higher commission" and "better product, lower or no commission," the intent is to favor the better product.

6. Your choice

You are never required to click an affiliate link. • You can search for the same products independently. • You can use ad blockers or tracker blockers. • The core content of the Site remains free to read either way. If you do choose to use my affiliate links, thank you—that support helps keep the resource online for others in crisis.

5. Use of funds

Revenue from affiliate links and any ads is intended to: • Cover the costs of running findmycat.info. • Provide a cushion for maintenance, improvements, and uptime. • Support the launch and operation of a similar lost-dog-focused resource site. When there is meaningful surplus beyond those needs, the goal is to direct extra funds toward related animal-welfare efforts (for example, supporting local rescues or specific targeted projects). This is a community‑resource model, not a "maximize profit at all costs" venture.
